The Spirit is a timeless piece or art that combines graphic quality with a unique way of storytelling that quite sets itself apart from most other comics produced in the 1940ies. Will Eiser was strongly influenced by the film industry and used techniques familiar from films to create a new style and way of storytelling. Shadows and rare perspectives supported his idea of narration. The Spirit has no genre.
