Gerbils are small mouselike animals. They are quite sociable and mostly enjoy the company of humans and other gerbils. They also have a slight tendency to develop epilepsy. A least that's what's written on Wikipedia and it may actually be true out in the wilderness... Shudder to think what might happen, if these little guys get urbanized AND epileptic! Russy and Nutty are two "Urban Gerbils". According to the circumstances they are a little crazy (I don't know about the epilepsy, though). London based cartoonist Dan Bowden has created those two guys and I bet they talk to him, too. Nutty is – well, – a little nutty. Maybe that's why he seems rather content with his life and fate in general. As Dan puts it, Nutty "is happy eating, sleeping and farting". A valid life choice, if you ask me. He is famous for his vast appetite of some unholy sort and seems quite content to escape via his numerous daydreams. To Russy's horror he also takes delight in painting and redecorating their cage sometimes. Russy on the other hand wants to get out and therefor uses his intellect mostly to plot his escape. That's if he's not busy planning Nutty's imminent death as he is gradually driven to insanity by his friend's slightly naive and simple ways, his "especially poor hygiene levels" and strangely literal imagination. Together they already entertained the readers of "The Camden New Journal" and a few other London papers in 2011. Dan updates their weekly adventures in a webcomic on his Deviantart website. Worth more than one visits.
